The monkey with fine engravings of fur, holding a peach with its mouth opened, a naturally occurring crack to the head, With buffalo horn inlaid eyes, signed Okatori.


H. approx. 4.2 cm

 

It is worth reading Meinertzhagen on how good a carver Okatori was ('MCI' p. 622), a point not lost on our consignor-collector who owned five netsuke by him.
