Large tobori (Chinese style) carving, one of the earliest types of katabori netsuke known, depicting Rakan seated on a flat-topped rock, his emaciated body showing from his half-shouldered robe, one big hole to the bottom of the rock, with a good patina and attractive wear, with fine natural age cracks.
